After 10 years of building bridges across issues, sectors, and demographics in the clean energy and sustainability industry, I noticed there was more to “advancing diversity” than training, workshops, and committees.

While organizations had the best intentions, often they were struggling to build consensus about the best way to incorporate racial diversity into their organization. Their teams and stakeholders were talking past each other and leaders were afraid to make decisions for fear of alienating any one person, hindering any progress from being made.
